Native American Style Drone flute in the Key of F# with an Ammonite Inlay
This is a 7 hole Extended Scale drone with the seventh hole being the thumb hole on the back of the flute. To play the flute as a standard 6 hole configuration, keep the thumb hole covered.
Materials:
Flute body is made of Sapele wood and the accents are of Maple wood. Flute is finished with Hand Rubbed Polyurethane and the inside of the sound chamber is left unsealed to preserve the natural resonance of wood. Slow Air chamber is soaked with food grade Mineral Oil. Sapele is a dense hardwood and it produces clear and loud tone. The drone is inlaid with an Ammonite Fossil.

– Overall Length – 22 inches
– Bore Diameter – 7/8 inch
– From mouth piece to the center of 6th hole – 11-3/4 inches
– From mouth piece to the center of 1st hole – 17-1/2 inches
– Largest distance between playing holes is 1 inch (hole 3-2)
– Largest playing hole diameter is 3/8th
The flute is tuned to 432Hz
If the flute is on Backorder:
When the flute is on Backorder it simply means that I would have to build it for you. You can place your order as you would with the regular purchase, the only difference is that it would take me from 2-3 or 3-4 weeks to finish it and mail it to you, depending on the load of present orders. If you don’t mind waiting I would love to recreate the flute for you.
I will do my best to recreate the flute, depending on wood availability from my supplier and my “Cutoff Box” which is where I keep pieces of wood from other flute projects to add accents to new flute orders. If the wood of your choice for the accents is not available, I will let you know and suggest closest replacement in look and feel, to complement the overall look and color palette of the flute.
