Description
This is a 7 hole Extended Scale drone with the seventh hole being the thumb hole on the back of the flute. Included with the drone is a leather strap which you can use to cover the seventh thumb hole to play the flute as a standard 6 hole configuration.
Alaskan Yellow Cedar has a wonderful mellow and meditative tone. This is the slowest growing tree in the North America, as it grows in the region of Alaska, so it’s growth rings are very tight due to cold temperatures. This wood is also used for acoustic guitar tops.
Materials:
Flute body is made of Yellow Cedar and the accents are of African Padauk wood, which is naturally deep red in color. I used a red Agate slice to inlay into the flute to complement the color of Padauk wood. Deer hide leather straps are used to tie the Totem to the flute.
Dimensions:
– Overall Length – 28 inches
– Bore Diameter – 1 inch
– From mouth end to the center of 6th hole – 12 inches
– From mouth end to the center of 1st hole – 19 inches
– Largest distance between playing holes (hole 3 to 2) is 1 and 5/8th inches
– Largest playing hole diameter is 5/16th of an inch
If the flute is on Backorder:
When the flute is on Backorder it simply means that I would have to build it for you. You can place your order as you would with the regular purchase, the only difference is that it would take me from 2-3 or weeks to finish it and mail it to you, depending on the load of present orders. If you don’t mind waiting I would love to recreate the flute for you. I will do my best to recreate the flute, depending on wood availability from my supplier and my “Cutoff Box” which is where I keep pieces of wood from other flute projects to add accents to new flute orders. If the wood of your choice for the accents or a stone for inlay are not available, I will let you know and suggest closest replacement, to complement the overall look and color palette of the flute.
