Description
7 Hole Alaskan Yellow Cedar Drone Flute in the Key of Low D
This is a 7 hole Extended Scale drone with the seventh hole being the thumb hole on the back of the flute. To play the flute as a standard 6 hole configuration, simply keep the thumb hole covered.
Materials:
Alaskan Yellow cedar has a mellow tone. Alaskan Cedar falls into category of priced tone woods hence it is priced higher comparable to the flutes of the same Key, size and embellishments.
*Note on Alaskan Cedar – due to lack of access to Alaskan Cedar wood from my lumber yard suppliers, the closest alternative in sound, density and weight is Obeche (Ayous) wood, which I would use to build this flute.
Dimentions:
– Overall Lenth – 27.5 inches
– Bore Diameter – 1 inch – From mouth end to first hole – 12 inches
– From mouth end to last hole – 19 inches
– Largest distance between playing holes – 1 and 5/8th inches – Largest playing hole diameter – 3/8th of an inch
What does it mean when the flute is built to order:
When the flute is on Built to Order it simply means just that – I would have to build it for you. You can place your order as you would with the regular purchase, the only difference is that it would take me from 2-3 or 3-4 weeks to finish it and mail it to you, depending on the load of present orders. If you don’t mind waiting I would love to recreate the flute for you. If you would rather have a custom flute or certain modifications added to the flute in this listing, instead you are welcome to fill out an Order a Custom Flute form.
I will do my best to recreate the flute, depending on wood availability from my supplier and my “Cutoff Box” which is where I keep pieces of wood from other flute projects to add accents to new flute orders. If the wood of your choice for the accents is not available, I will let you know and suggest closest replacement in look and feel, to complement the overall look and color palette of the flute.
